The San Juan River is legendary among fly fishers for good reason. Our guides regularly help anglers land trout over 24 inches, and catches topping 30 inches are far from rare. However, size isn’t the only story here. With an astonishing 12,000 to 15,000 trout per mile, this constantly-cold tailwater fishery offers consistent action and endless opportunity. The fish feed almost nonstop, drawn to the tiny midges that drift through its waters.

Latest Fishing Report & Flows
Fishing continues to be great, with summer flows expected to level off around 800cfs. The Quality Waters, Lower River, and Village sections are each fishing well. Dry fly fishing is picking up and should be in full swing by mid-June!

Flows went down to 500 from 900 last week and have settled nicely since. The slower, clearer water has the fish seeking out midges, mayflies, and caddis, especially if fishing the village or lower river. The fish are also starting to look up for dry flies, especially on….
