San Juan River Fishing Report & News
From Our Guides: The Weekly San Juan River Fishing Report Video for October 31St , 2024
Here’s the official Bi-Weekly San Juan River Fly Fishing Report from Fisheads San Juan River Lodge, as reported by Stephen Souva with John Ellis, Fly Fishing Guides:
We have a very special fishing report this week featuring “Ron Burgundy” and “Frank the Weather Winnie.” The water is currently at 350 cfs. Due to the 4x4s being open, the water is slightly cloudy but are fishable. With temperatures dropping, make sure you’re dressing in layers in order to enjoy your day out fishing. In the morning, our guides are rigging up leeches and red larvae, and are fishing deep. In the afternoons, we switch to midge patterns of all different colors and are fishing shallower. Despite the cloudier waters, the fish are still looking up, and dry flies are still effective. Griffiths gnats and Parachute Adams have been go-to patterns. Baetis hatches are also occurring earlier in the day. If you’re looking to change your fishing style, streamer fishing is picking up.
We hope to see you out there. Stay classy, San Juan River!
