San Juan River Fishing Report & News
From Our Guides: The Weekly San Juan River Fishing Report Video for July 30th, 2024
Here’s the official Weekly San Juan River Fly Fishing Report from Fisheads San Juan River Lodge, as reported by Aaron Silva, Fly Fishing Guide:
River/flows: Flows are up this week, currently at 950 cfs. Due to the change in flows, river debris has been stirred up, so keeping your flies clean is important.
Fly Recommendations: We’re having success with flies such as San Juan worms and red larvae. In shallower waters, midges like Big Macs in colors such as red/gray, olive, and chocolate have been effective. Dry fly season is picking up, and CDCs and Loop Wing beatis in sizes 22 and 24 have been working well recently. Along with keeping your flies clean, one of our main takeaways this week is to fish in new spots. Water flows may have shifted the fish from your favorite hole, so there may be a chance that you need to find where they’ve shifted to. Most importantly, have a good time. We hope to see you out there!
