San Juan River Fishing Report & News
From Our Guides: The Weekly San Juan River Fishing Report Video for August 16th, 2024
Here’s the official Weekly San Juan River Fly Fishing Report from Fisheads San Juan River Lodge, as reported by John Ellis, Fly Fishing Guide:
Waters clear, weathers nice, and fishing is good! Flows are down and are sitting at 700 cfs, and should stay there for the foreseeable future. Similarly to the last couple weeks red larvae are still effective, especially in deep waters. As the day progresses, we are switching to other colors such as olive and red/black midges paired with those red laeve. Jujubees in gray, black, and olive have also been effective. Baetis hatches have returned in the mid to late afternoon, with gray and chocolate foam-wing patterns being go-to choices for our guides. Although dry flies are still fishing well, their effectiveness varies day to day depending on the fish activity. We hope to catch you out there!
