San Juan River Fishing Report & News
From Our Guides: The Weekly San Juan River Fishing Report Video for May 16th, 2024
The official May 16th San Juan River fly fishing report from the guides of Fisheads San Juan River Lodge. Report given by John Ellis, Fly Fishing Guide. Fishing has been great since the flows have been lowered back down to 350 CFS. We’re even starting to see some dry fly action on cloudy days. The water continues to clear up, and visibility is around 5 feet. In the last few weeks, the trout have been taking leeches and eggs, but they are now keying in more on midges. Many of us are fishing two midge patterns starting in the morning. Chocolate, black with gray, and olive have been working well. In the afternoon, we’re seeing Baetis activity and have been fishing with gray, chocolate, and olive Baetis emergers. Hope to see you here!
