4th of July Weekend

San Juan River Fishing Report & News

ANTS AND PMDS!!

Recently this past weekend, we have had two ant falls from a couple of thunderstorms.  We’ve also seen a few adult bugs appear above the water lately. Hopper fishing is getting good, sizes 4-10 are working. Midge larvae fishing has been doing well still, smaller sizes, 20-24, are doing best, for colors, gray, olive, brown, and black are catching more fish than the lighter colors. This river is currently running at 1020 cfs and should hold steady this week. Dry fly action has been better lately on both the quality waters section and the lower river. Naked Red Ladies are still doing well, sizes 18-20.

PMDs are beginning to hatch below Simon Point.

The water in the lower has been occasionally getting blown out do to the recent rain storms, but the Quality Waters section has been fairly clear, approximately 36-48 inhces.

Fishing has been good all day long and starts getting really good in the evenings, around 6:00.

There is rain in the forecast for the next couple days but the preciptation chances are predicted to be low.
