San Juan River Fishing Report & News
San Juan River Fishing Report for Sept. 11, 2016
Fishead (fish-head) n. A person who spends all their time thinking about, dreaming about, or in the pursuit of fish.
Over the next 7 days the San Juan River will be fantastic. The cloudy days will provide some much needed relief from the sun. The return to normal flow rates pulled the trout back in to the regular holding spots. Over the next week we will see the river flow remain around 490 cfs.
The water is very clear. The wading is excellent right now and will continue to get better as the settling of silt and debris continues. The trout are eating annelids and chocolate or gray foam wings regularly. Use a black midge or a grey midge pattern when the first two stop working, small black midge size 24 or 26. Go back to light weight with the slower flow rate, but still start at the bottom. Dry fly fishing is great right now using a big black ant.
So tight lines anglers. Make us a destination to fish this fall. You will not be disappointed.
