Greetings from Fisheads

Season’s Greetings, Friends of Fisheads!

Chris Taylor and the crew of Fisheads San Juan River Lodge want to thank you all for another great year.  Special thanks go out to our wonderful customers that responded to our call for help on the gas line problem.  Thanks to all of your responses the residents and businesses of Navajo dam will continue to have natural gas service. From all the attention we generated the San Juan River was recognized as the #1 state park destination in New Mexico. Again thank you for all your support!

We expanded our lodging this year by adding the Quality Waters Inn, 10 river front rooms that are just around the corner form the main lodge. Our restaurant, “The Back Cast Café” continues to be the talk of the river.   We know outdoorsmen keep long hours, and winter fishing on the Juan can be great so we open early and close late all year long, except Christmas day, stop by you will not be disappointed.  The Back Cast Café also has a banquet room for groups and a full catering menu to go with it.  We can now provide a place for your meeting or party, weather the group is large or small.

With the holidays closing in on us, we want to remind you to get your orders in for any gifts (to ourselves or to others) you might want to order.  We carry a wide selection of Orvis rod and reels that are right for any skill level and budget. The guides of Fisheads recommend one of our ten foot fly rods for its, great reach, exact mending and unparalleled presentation. The Helios is hands down our favorite and on sale for 40% off and available NOW is the new H2.  Orvis also offer the Access Rods, a great rod that won’t break the bank and still offers that legendary Orvis performance.  Make your Orvis order with us and get free shipping on orders over $50.00.  This year we have added a stocked magnetic fly box to our Christmas inventory; the fly boxes are filled by the dozen, with a variety of wet and dry patterns we recommend for this river.

November is here and the BWO’s are still on fire.  This month is one our favorites, the crowds of fall are gone and usually the weather will hold up until mid-December.   As most of you know the San Juan was high most of the summer and was stocked with excess fish from the Game and Fish hatcheries, LOTS of stockers.  These fish were stocked all summer and range from 3″ to 14″, they are feeding freely on the abundant hatches and could possible grow up to 3” in the first months.  Fishing for the coming years is very promising.  Fishead’s now has a guide dedicated to Navajo lake; Capt. Nicole Bridge has completed the training necessary and is our lake guide.  She will guide you out of her Ranger Bass boat for Carp, Pike and Smallmouth Bass.

I want to thank everyone for your continued support.  2012 has been a great year and we are looking forward to seeing you all this winter or next year.

Happy holidays to all the Fisheads out there from the entire staff here at Fisheads San Juan River Lodge.

Tight lines, Chris Taylor, the head Fishead!
